Northwest ISD has named Michelle Jennings as the principal of Barksdale Middle School in advance of its opening this office, bringing an established district administrator onboard to lead the new campus.

Mrs. Jennings has served as an assistant principal of Worthington Middle School since the school’s opening in 2023, where she engaged in many practices of creating procedures and structures for a new campus. Prior to opening Worthington Middle School and its administrative team, she served as an assistant principal at Wilson Middle School for three years.

Prior to entering campus administration, Mrs. Jennings served as a teacher and instructional coach in Northwest ISD for eight years. She began her career in Northwest ISD in 2012 after four years as a teacher in Arlington ISD.

“I look forward to getting to know the students and families of Barksdale Middle School as we prepare to open the school together,” she said. “My top two priorities are building relationships with our incoming Bronco families and beginning the hiring process to find the best educators and support staff possible for our students. Our inaugural Barksdale Broncos – students and staff alike – have a lot to look forward to in our first year.”

Throughout her time in Northwest ISD, Mrs. Jennings has led numerous initiatives to support educators, including mentorship coordination, professional development conference presentations and district committees.

Mrs. Jennings earner her master’s degree in curriculum and instruction from the University of Texas at Tyler and her bachelor’s degree in English at the University of Texas at Arlington.
